I just want to say an enormous, public thank you to the delicious, delightful (not to mention other 'd' words) Ms.
trinapink! For she has given unto me a Paid Account. It was such a thoughtful thing and utterly unexpected and she is such a huge sweetie. Everyone, go from here now, read her journal and also read the (excellent) first chapter of her novel-in-progress East of Jesus. I'm really looking forward to reading it when she's finished.
The first thing I did with my new-found paid-ness? I created a syndication for my friend's blog,
oldcheeser. Despite all my attempts at persuading him to get an LJ he decided to go over to (ick)Blogspot and start up over there. And I really dislike the layout over there, with the narrow column down the middle of the screen for the text. It just looks cramped and silly, as far as I'm concerned. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy his writing, and wish he'd hurry up and post some of the fiction he's written and has promised to put up, but I just find it really rather awkward to read. But I no longer have to worry about that! Hoorah!
Anyone got anything they want syndicating? I'm going to be a syndication whore, I tell you!!!
The other thing I did was add to my userpics. I've added three so far. A couple of girly ones and the one I'm using here which is, I think, utterly adorable. But then, I would say that because it is my son and one of my cats. I'm kind of obliged to say it. But don't you agree? I think I need a few more icons though. Perhaps a Doctor Who one and definitely a comic book one, although I'm not sure which direction I should go, there. A classic Superhero picture? Or perhaps a dark, Vertigo image (am I ready to let my inner Goth with a Sandman image???). Or a Bone one -
maticoquala has a really nice 'Stupid, Stupid Rat Creatures' one which is rather tempting and would mean that I don't have to worry about creating it. Or should I just go 'to heck with it' and get all of them. After all, I can have lots now, can't I?

Well, I did it. I followed the Meme like a particularly IT literate sheep...
( TrustFlow II results )
I did actually add some people to my Friends list as a result of this. I didn't look at all of the people on the list, not by a long shot, and I didn't add everyone I looked at. But I do have lots more to read now, anyway.

I have just spent half an hour and three attempts (the first two screwed up by my own cack-handedness) trying to make a reply to this entry in the Crossdressing LJ by
nightstar13 and then I got some sort of posting error and lost the final post.
When I get over my annoyance at the failure and I have a little while spare (which isn't going to be this afternoon... I'm going to be hugely busy - AS and A2 exam results came in today and it's my job to make sure they are put into the correct order.)I'll try and write again. But until then, AAARGH!!!

I don't have much to write about today, I'm just vacillating before getting on with the MCSE - I'm just about to start the final third of the second module. Which should hopefully be complete by the middle to end of next week which can then mean that I can spend a couple of weeks revising and do the exam by the end of March. Which is about a month longer than I wanted to take on this one, but a hell of a lot better than the six months it took to do the first module.
Of course, if I spend all my time LJ'ing, I'll never get there, will I?
One of the things that I really like about writing here is the comments and replies that I get from people. So, thanks to SheWhoMust and Lowla Valentine for taking the time to show me that I'm not just writing for no reason here. Although writing is pretty much a reason in itself, like reading.
The last few weeks there has been one television programme that has made me switch on. I haven't been watching anything else - Candy was away last week and when she's away I tend to ignore the television. In fact, it seemed like every time I turned the Olympics on in the last fortnight it's been either bloody Curling or bloody Speed Skating. I managed to miss all of the ice skating, all of the skiing and all the bobsleigh/skeleton/luge stuff (I could have watched it, because my telly provider now has this marvellous Watch Again malarkey for the BBC, but I didn't). No. The only thing I have been watching religiously is Life On Mars. If you haven't seen it, or have the bad luck to live somewhere other than the UK (Well, I say bad luck but...) then you have really missed a treat. The basic premise is that a policeman from 2006 gets knocked over and wakes up in 1973. He doesn't know if he's hallucinating, dreaming or travelled in time. And it gets weirder from there - hearing voices of what's going on in hospital, visitations from the BBC Test Card girl and so on. It's been utterly brilliant and totally unmissable. The last episode of this series was last night (although I haven't seen it yet - I was watching last weeks episode) and I am not expecting any real expectations yet. There is, apparently, a three series storyline (which will be a total of 24 episodes - ironically, the same as an American series) and I intend seeing everyone of them. And maybe buying the DVD's as well.
Anyway, I suppose I'd better get on with my work.
