A wordcount and some news

I'll do the news first, then I'll do the wordcount. That way, I'll get the interesting stuff out of the way first.

Yesterday, I discovered why Down Among The Yla got rejected. It wasn't because it wasn't any good. No, it was, in fact, because I am an idiot. When I write, I keep two current versions of the text - one on my C drive and one on my Dropbox. However, when I re-edited Down Among... following the suggestions from the editor, I must have saved it halfway through the process. Then, when I had finished it - making the biggest changes to the text - I only saved it to Dropbox. Then I sent the half edited version to the editor. I imagine he must have been somewhat annoyed to see that I had only made some of the changes that he suggested.

However, when I realised this yesterday, I emailed him again, explaining the error and asking if he would be willing to take another look. And, obviously being an incredible person (especially if he should chance to read this...), he said yes! So, I have managed to snatch my chance back from the jaws of rejection! Of course, I'll probably still end up being rejected, but at least this time it will be because there are still problems with the book rather than through my own ineptitude.

I've just been checking the stats for The Long Sleep on Feedbooks and, in the last week, it has been downloaded a total of 213 times! Which is really rather marvellous.

And now, the wordcount.

It was a bit of a short week this week, with one thing and another, I didn't quite manage to hit my target. And, to be frank, if I hadn't managed to get 1600 words written today, it'd have been well short. As it is, I managed 2300 words this week. Taking my total to:

53040 / 80000 (66.30%)

So basically, two-thirds of the way! Hooray! It's going really well, as well and seems to be very much on target for where I want to be.
